YouTube Symphony Orchestra
World renowned Chinese Classical composer Tan Dun has written a new piece of music to be played by an orchestra chosen through YouTube auditions. Musicians of all types can download the sheet music, a recording of the work (by the London Symphony), as well as rehearsal videos and a video of Tan Dun himself silently conducting the work so you can practice watching. Those selected for the orchestra will perform the piece in April at Carnegie Hall in New York. This is a truly remarkable idea, and I can’t wait to see the final results! I may even audition.
