Wednesday, January 25th 2012: My latest project, Hoppipolla will open along with Kevin Bowers for Adam John at The Mansion. Music starts at 9pm, Hoppipolla will be on around 10:30pm. $5 at the door.

Friday, January 27th 2012: The Melos Choir and Chamber Orchestra present The Italian Connection. We’ll be playing the music of Albinoni, Pergolesi, Cimarosa and Vivaldi as well as a trio sonata by Corelli featuring The Limestone Trio.

Thursday, February 2nd 2012: Treebot will play a set of experimental music at The Mansion at 10:30pm.

Saturday, February 18th 2012: I’ll be joining Kris and Dee at The Grad Club for a joint show with The Lowest of the Low’s Ron Hawkins. Doors open at 9pm, music starts at 10pm. $10 at the door.

Tuesday, December 6th 2011: The Kingston Symphony Association presents A Holiday Celebration! with The Kingston Youth Orchestra, The Kingston Youth Strings and The Kingston A Strings. This will be my premiere performance as conductor of KYS and KAS. The show will take place at Duncan McArthur Hall on Queen’s campus at 7:30pm. Tickets are $8, $5 for children 12 and under and $22 for families of 2 adults and 2 children.

Sunday, December 11th 2011: I’ll be joining The Kingston Chamber Choir along with some symphony colleagues to perform Handel’s Messiah. Join us at St. George’s Cathedral for this much loved Christmas tradition. 2:30pm, $25, $20, $10

Tuesday, December 20th and Wednesday, December 21st 2011: The Kingston Symphony presents Candlelight Christmas at St. George’s Cathedral with The Kingston Choral Society and Mezzo Soprano and CBC host Julie Nesrallah. Tickets are available at The Grand Theatre box office.

Saturday, November 5th 2011: Calamity Janes will perform as part of Wintergreen Studios’ Dinner and Entertainment Series. Dinner is served at 6pm, showtime is around 7:30pm. $30 per person, reservations required and can be made online or by phone: 613-273-8745.

Saturday, November 15th 2011: Calamity Janes will take part in the William Vanhorn Benefit for Mental Health at the Tir nan og. The Janes are on first, keep an eye on the Facebook event for a confirmed time. $10 minimum donation at the door.

Friday, November 18th 2011: The Limestone Trio will be performing a trio sonata and in the orchestra as part of Melos Choir and Chamber Orchestra‘s first concert of the season at St. George’s Cathedral, 7:30pm.

Wednesday, September 7th 2011: Check out my latest project, Hoppipolla! We’re opening for James O-L and The Villains, Orphan Choir and Jukebox County at The Mansion. 9pmish.

Saturday, September 10th 2011: Calamity Janes play Girls Night Out at Ben’s Pub (105 Clergy St.). Music starts at 8pm but get there early, it fills up fast!

Saturday, September 17th 2011: Calamity Janes play Music in the Hollow in Newburgh, Ontario. We’ll be playing at Newburgh United Church (339 Academy Street) at 9:10pm.

Friday, September 23rd 2011: The Jenica Rayne Trio plays The Waring House in Picton, Ontario. Come have a pint or a glass of county wine and a great meal. (I recommend the Shepard’s Pie.) 6:30pm-10:30pm.

Thursday, August 18th 2011: The first performance of my band with no name (all strings, mostly original tunes by me) at Confederation Basin. This is a free show from 12:30pm-1:30pm.

After hiding out for months in the studio, Calamity Janes are getting back on stage to share some new tunes:

Sunday, August 21st 2011: Calamity Janes will be the final act at the second Grass Roots Women’s Music Festival. Our set starts at 3pm.

Thursday, August 25th 2011: Calamity Janes play The Mansion. 8pm. $5 at the door.

Saturday, September 3rd 2011: Calamity Janes play The Barley Room at The Waring House in Picton, 7pm-11pm.

Contest!

I’ve written a new song! I borrowed a lovely line from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 and wrote a vocal line to go with it as well as a few additional violin parts. The only problem: I’m no lyricist. I need your help. If you are a poet, a lyricist or just a music lover who wants to give it a shot, please write me some lyrics for this song! I’ve posted the vocal line here (it’s a midi version unfortunately so yes, it does sound like a video game right now…). Have a listen and see if any words come to you. The chosen lyrics will be used in the song in live performances as well as on my first album. Please send your entry to bookings@daniellelennon.com. There are no limitations on this contest, write about anything you’d like and write as many sets of lyrics as you’d like. I can’t wait to read them!

In addition to focusing on my own originals these days, I’m also spending most Fridays at the studio with Calamity Janes. We’ve been working hard on a three song demo and so far, we have finished two original tunes: Stashed Away and Some Take the Highway. The next tune will be a great bluegrass fiddle tune called Jerusalem Ridge. We’ve given it our own flavour, adding a touch of swing and blues to the feel of it. Should be pretty great once it’s done. The Janes are also hoping to get the ball rolling on a two week adventure along the Bruce Peninsula this summer. More details to follow.

In the meantime, the Kingston Symphony and the Melos Baroque Ensemble are keeping me busy. The Limestone Trio, will be featured at the next Baroque concert which will take place at 7:30pm on January 28th at St. George’s Cathedral in Kingston.

Sunday, December 13th 2010: Two thirds of Calamity Janes will play at The Big Ragu on Landsdowne in Toronto from 6:30pm-9:30pm.

Tuesday, December 21st and Wednesday, December 22nd 2010: The Kingston Symphony and The Kingston Choral Society present their annual Christmas Concert at St. George’s Cathedral at 7:30pm. The program will include Beethoven’s 1st Symphony as well as selections from the Messiah, O Holy Night, Ave Maria and In the Bleak Midwinter.

Saturday, November 13th 2010: Danielle will be joining some of Kingston’s best blues musicians for a special Blues Society jam with The David Rotundo Band at Confederation Place Hotel (237 Ontario St.). Tickets are $15 for KBS members, $25 for non-members (ticket price includes a one-year membership) and can be purchased in advance by calling 613-384-8168.

Saturday, November 20th and Sunday, November 21st 2010: The Kingston Symphony will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with soloist Andréa Tyniec along with Dvorak’s New World Symphony at the Kingston Gospel Temple. 8pm on Saturday, 2:30pm on Sunday.

Friday, November 26th 2010: The Melos Choir and Chamber Orchestra present A concert for St. Cecilia’s Day: Henry Purcell’s Ode Hail! Bright Cecilia (1692), G. F. Handel’s Organ concerto No. 2 (1735), J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 148 Bringet dem Herrn Ehre seines Namens (1723), and S.S. Wesley’s Ascribe unto the Lord (1851).
